Private Lessons in My Studio:

These intensive lessons are for those adults who want to learn how to throw or advance their current skills on the potters wheel.  Lessons include anything from throwing functional wares to creating large decorative pieces.  Lessons may also include instruction in glazing, loading and firing kilns. Private lessons are available as a single session with a minimum of two hours or in a series of lessons. The curriculum will be based on the specific desires of the student as well as the needs determined by the instructor.  Although I do work in my studio on a daily basis, please call or email for an appointment.  Private lessons are billed at $35/hour plus materials.

I offer workshops in my studio or at your school, studio or gallery.  Workshops are designed to meet your specific needs and time frame.  Workshops may be setup as either a presentation/ demonstration or a presentation/ hands on workshop. Pay for lessons:

All classes are held in my studio.  Lessons at your location are available.  Travel time is an additional cost.

The One Hour Throwing Sampler.  $40.  This lesson provides the student with a taste of throwing on the potters wheel. The lesson starts with a demo and then the student sits at the wheel and is taught to throw a cylinder. Clay and tools are provided. The class may be extended for additional time. Firing services and glazes are available.

 

Two Hour Private Lesson.  $70. This lesson is for beginning to advanced student. Beginners are taught throwing basic forms, whereas the advanced student may want a refresher. The lesson will be adopted to your specific desires. Clay and tools are provided. The class may be extended for additional time. Firing services and glazes are available.

 

One hour Raku sampler.  $50.  This is a demo class in which I demonstrate a Raku firing.  The student gets to take home a small piece at no additional charge.

 

Three Hour Raku Lesson.  $125.  This is concentrated class on Americanized Raku for up to two. Bisque ware pieces will be available or bring your own bisque ware. Glazing and firing will be demonstrated. Horse Hair, White Crackle glaze and Copper Luster glaze will be available. Leather gloves, safety goggles and all equipment will be provided. Includes two firings.

 

Throwing and Firing for Raku.  $300.  This is a two day class in throwing and firing for Americanized Raku. The throwing session is three hours and the Raku session is two hours.  Two participants maximum. Experience in throwing is expected. Throwing will be demonstrated. Generally, this class is held on consecutive weekends. Day 1 pieces are thrown and trimmed for the Raku kiln. The pieces are dried and bisque fired during the week. Day 2, the following weekend pieces are glazed and fired. Glazing and firing will be demonstrated. Horse Hair, White Crackle glaze and Copper Luster glaze will be available. Leather gloves, safety goggles and all equipment will be provided. Includes two firings.

 

Setting Up and Firing an Electric Kiln.  $100.  This is a two hour class that takes the new kiln owner through the process for setting up, loading and unloading an electric kiln.  This does not include kiln installation.  Firing errors and maintanence are also discussed.
